Create and Apply the Staff Team Field Type

Create a Staff Team field type when you’re assigning staffers to project teams. Instead of adding one staffer at a time to a project, you can add an entire group of staffers all at once. When you add a staffer to a team, that staffer will automatically be added to project teams that the Staff Team is assigned to. 

Here’s an example. Say you’ve hired a new staffer. Instead of adding the staffer to each project, you add them to the Staff Team. This will assign them to any project that the Staff Team is assigned to.

This article will show you how to create a Staff Team field type, like QA or Engineering. Then, we’ll show you how to add staffers to a field type and apply the field type to a project. 

 

Add Values to the Staff Team Field Type

First, let’s add values to the Staff Team field type in Field Values. 

1. Click MY COMPANY...FIELD VALUES from your navigation bar.

2. Click the FIELD VALUES tab.

3. Select the STAFF TEAM option.

4. Add staff team values. To do so, click on the hyperlink ADD NEW VALUE.

Then, enter the value and description, if you’d like, in the fields to the right of your window.

Save your changes by clicking on the WHITE TRIANGLE (near the bottom-right of your window) and select SAVE+NEW from the picklist. Continue adding values as needed.

 

Assign Staffers to a Team

Now let’s add staffers to one of the Staff Team values you just created. You’ll do this on the staffer’s profile. 

1. Click MY COMPANY...STAFF LIST.

2. Select a staffer from the Staff List that populates.

3. Click on the USER RIGHTS tab.

4. Select the STAFF TEAM for this user. This option is located at the end of your window.

5. Click SAVE CHANGES to save your work.

Repeat this process for each of your staffers. When finished, take a look at the next section where we'll add the Staff Team value to a project.

 

Assign a Staff Team to a Project

Now you can add the Staff Team value, which includes the staffers who you just added, to a project.

1. Click MY COMPANY...PROJECT LIST.

2. Select a project from your Project List.

3. Click on the TEAM tab.

4. Select the STAFF TEAM value that applies to this project.

5. Click SAVE CHANGES to save your work.
