Navigating the Team Tab in Resource Management

If your firm has adopted BigTime Resource Management, you can build teams for each project and add your chosen employees to those teams. From there, you can plan time off, assignments, and role substitutions. You can manage your teams by opening a project from the Project List and navigating to the TEAM tab.

Suppose you’ve previously created and edited projects in BigTime before using Resource Management (RM). In that case, you’ll recognize the TEAM tab as where you can assign specific staffers to work on a project’s tasks. But when you start using Resource Management to manage your resources, this tab will look a little different from the one you’re used to. You’ll see an explanation of how you can manage teams in RM and a button labeled BUILD YOUR TEAM

Clicking this button will redirect you to Resource Management. You’ll be taken to the TEAM tab for that specific project. 

Building Teams with Search for Team Members

Here, you can click the SEARCH FOR TEAM MEMBERS button to find staffers you want to add to the project team. 

Clicking this button will open a pop-up window with a full list of all your staffers. The names on this list are pulled from the staffer profiles created in BigTime. To learn about adding staffers to BigTime, read this article.

If you don’t want to scroll through your entire staffer list to find the right person, you can type their name into the search bar. To learn more about filtering, go to the article

After finding the right staffer for your project, click the PERSON icon to the right of their name to add them to the team.

Quick Add: Add Members to a Project Team

In the Team tab of the Project Profile, you’ll see an Add Members button above the team table. The Search for Team Members button now appears next to it in an outline style.

When you select Add Team Members, a window opens with a list of employees in your organization.

In this window, you can:

  • See each employee’s avatar and full name
  • Select Add to Project to add them to the team without creating an allocation
  • Use the search box to enter a first or last name
  • Scroll through the list if there are many employees

This option allows you to add people to the project team without extra steps.
