Assignment Visibility Restrictions: Use Cases and Benefits
This feature lets administrators control which assignment types staffers can see in the Calendar view.
Business objectives:
- Enable role-based visibility
- Reduce clutter for staffers
- Improve planning focus by role
- Customize views based on your organization’s needs
With this setting, you can decide if staffers see Reserved or Draft assignments in their calendars.
Required Permissions
To use this feature, make sure:
- You have BigTime Resource Management Administrator permissions.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1. Log in as an Administrator.
2. Go to the Settings Tab.
3. Locate the Assignment Visibility for Staffers section.
4. Choose which assignments staffers should see by toggling options:

Reserved:
- Switch On → Reserved assignments are visible in staffers’ calendars.
- Switch Off → Reserved assignments are hidden.

Draft:
- Switch On → Draft assignments are visible in staffers’ calendars.
- Switch Off → Draft assignments are hidden.
By default, both options are set to On.
Before & After Example
In the example below, you can see how three assignments were added to the Manager’s account:
- Green – Active
- Black – Draft
- Yellow – Reserved
Below, check how the calendar in the Staffer’s profile looks with the settings turned on and with them turned off:
- Settings On: Staffer’s calendar with Reserved and Draft assignments visible.
