Introduction
The BigTime Time Agent makes it easy to capture your workday without adding unnecessary steps. Once you turn it on, it quietly keeps track of your activity so you don’t have to worry about missing time entries.
Time Agent Daily Routine
Here’s a quick daily routine to get the most out of the Time Agent - just a few simple steps to keep your timesheet accurate and up to date.
|
Start Tracking
To begin, open the Time Agent and press Play once. The best practice is to leave it running all the time. Tracking will automatically pause when your computer goes to sleep and resume as soon as you wake it up. This way you never need to remember to restart tracking, and your day is always covered.
Review Your Day
At the end of your workday, open the Summary view to see a calendar-like display of your tracked desktop activity alongside your connected calendar events.
The Time Agent uses AI to categorize your time against your BigTime projects and tasks, but sometimes there may be gaps. These will appear as white boxes with dashed borders. Simply click into them to add the missing details.
You can also adjust any projects, tasks, or labor codes for entries that the system categorized incorrectly.
Save to Timesheet
When you have finished reviewing your day, click Save to Timesheet. A consolidated view of your daily activity appears so you can make any final edits. Once everything looks correct, click Add to Timesheet to send your entries to BigTime.
Submit Your Timesheet
Finally, remember that while the Time Agent streamlines your daily logging, you still need to submit your timesheet in BigTime at the interval required by your firm, which is most often weekly. This ensures your hours are reviewed and approved according to your organization’s policies.
Setup Resources
Please refer to the separate Get Started with the BigTime Time Agent for setup instructions, such as installation, calendar connection, and managing blocked apps.
